How Smyth Sewn Book Binding Works

Loose signatures are gathered to form a collated book block
The machine opens each signature and places is on the saddle
Each signature is accounted for with a camera located on the machine
This process eliminates mistakes and ensures accurate signature placement
Signatures are then sewn together using a cotton covered nylon thread
Each folded signature is sewn to the next with multiple needle and thread stitches down the length of the signature
The final result is a durable smyth sewn book block
