NASHVILLE, TN – Digital Press Operator – 2nd Shift
Job Description
JOB SUMMARY:
The Digital Press operator’s responsibilities include print production to ensure high-quality output for various projects. This role involves working closely with management and production teams to ensure books are printed to the desired specification. This position has a high level of detail-oriented work and requires a meticulous work ethic.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND JOB DUTIES:
Perform work as assigned by the Supervisor including:
Operational Support:
- Operate and monitor DIGI-B digital edge printing equipment to meet production goals
- Load and manage print files using RIP software and related computer systems
- Perform machine setup, calibration, and job changeovers
- Conduct quality inspections to ensure products meet specifications
- Maintain a clean and organized work area
- Application file prep, color management, proofing
- Inspect finished products throughout the process to verify quality, accuracy, and consistency.
- Make routine adjustments to maintain print quality and production efficiency.
Safety and Compliance:
- Follow all safety procedures and operational standards
- Conduct regular safety checks and report any hazards or incidents.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn technical equipment
- Better than basic computer skills and comfort working with digital file systems
- Strong attention to detail and quality
- Previous manufacturing or print experience is a plus
- Ability to learn RIP Software, Adobe Suite products and Illustrator
- Must have the ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures and instructions,
- Keep business information confidential.
- Self-directed, independent worker.
- Above-average math skills.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
- Above average computer skills
- Must have a strong background in math and communication skills.
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Able to work as part of a team.
- Solid work history
ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The employee should possess the ability to:
- Able to work 5 consecutive shifts at 8+ hours per shift while mostly on your feet
- Willing to work overtime should the workload demand it
- Must have close vision, distance vision, depth perception, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Extensive walking, lifting & carrying heavy weighted materials (up to 50 lbs)
- Fast-paced environment with strict deadlines and quality standards.
- Able to bend and/or twist on regular basis
- Ability to move or traverse the facilities.
- Ability to work around dust, chemicals, and other substances, and in various environmental conditions
- Wear all the required personal protective equipment.
